Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

This statement sets out The Mortgage Clinic’s actions to understand all potential modern slavery risks related to our business and to put in place steps to ensure that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains. This statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

Introduction

As part of the Mortgage and Insurance Industry, the risks relating to modern slavery are not prominent. Still, The Mortgage Clinic recognises that it has a responsibility to take a robust approach to slavery and human trafficking.

The Mortgage Clinic is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities and to ensuring that its supply chains are free from slavery and human trafficking.

Organisational structure and supply chains

This statement covers the activities of The Mortgage Clinic.

The Mortgage Clinic is a young and innovative company that provides independent Mortgage advice and Insurance advice. We have close links to the local property market and estate agencies, so you can be sure that we are true experts in the mortgage market.

We support clients at all levels, from first-time buyers to experienced investors, and we would be delighted to help and advise you whatever your needs are. Modern forms of slavery are not prevalent in the industries in which these suppliers operate.

The organisation currently operates in Northern Ireland.

Relevant policies

Our team writes policies to reflect the values and ethical standing of the organisation across all areas. It is signed off by our Chief Executive Officer, Helmut Elstner.

The organisation operates the following policies that describe its approach to the identification of modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking in its operations:

Whistleblowing policy

The organisation encourages all its workers, customers and other business partners to report any concerns related to its direct activities or supply chains. This includes any circumstances that may increase the risk of slavery or human trafficking. Employees, customers or others who have concerns can speak to their line manager or our team if they have any concerns.

Employee handbook & induction

Our Handbook clarifies to employees the actions and behaviour expected of them when representing the organisation. The organisation strives to maintain the highest standards of employee conduct and ethical behaviour when operating abroad and managing its supply chain. New employees are given the handbook when they first join and made aware of how to identify signs of modern slavery and the next steps to take if they suspect it is taking place within our business or supply chain.

Recruitment/Agency workers policy

The organisation uses only specified, reputable employment agencies to source labour and always verifies the practices of any new agency it is using before accepting workers from that agency.

Due diligence

The organisation undertakes due diligence when considering new suppliers and regularly reviews existing ones.

Chief Executive Officer approval

This statement was approved by the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer, who reviews and updates it annually.
